Alcohol-Free Policy
All of the
WAHA
adventures are alcohol-free. This means that
WAHA
will not
provide, purchase, reimburse nor allow consumption of alcohol
on any adventures.
There are a number of reasons for the policy.
 |
Many
adventures involve the use of various types of weapons, and both
safety and common sense dictate that weapons and alcohol never
mix--ever. |
 |
Adventurers may assist with driving one of the vehicles on
trips, and driving and alcohol never mix--ever. |
 |
Some
adventurers do not consider alcohol consumption an issue, while
others have a strong aversion to alcohol consumption.
Others have struggled greatly with alcohol addiction and abuse, and continue
to struggle. The Bible states we should refrain if only to
assist others (see paraphrased verses below).
"...be careful so that your freedom does
not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble. For if
others see you—with your “superior knowledge”—[consuming
alcohol], won’t they be encouraged to violate their conscience
by [consuming alcohol]? So because of your superior knowledge, a
weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed. And when
you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do
something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ.
So if [consuming alcohol] causes another believer to sin, I will
[not consume alcohol]—for I don’t want to cause another believer
to stumble."
-- I Corinthians 8:9-13

Deposit and Payment Policy
Background
WAHA
offers many different adventures throughout the year. Each provides
participants with opportunities for fellowship, new challenges,
adventure, reconnecting with friends, experiencing God through His
creation, building relationships and new experiences. Adventures
vary throughout the year to accommodate varied interests, schedules
and experience, and
WAHA is always searching for new adventures to
provide.
The demand for many of the
WAHA
adventures often exceeds supply, and
WAHA
offers reservations to allow future planning for the adventurers
and
WAHA.
Due to instances where reservations were made and then cancelled
just prior to an adventure,
WAHA
instituted a Deposit and Payment Policy for adventures. The policy provides all of the following
advantages:
þ
Adventurers can reserve a spot for future adventures via an early
commitment
þ
WAHA
can properly plan for the appropriate number of adventurers
þ
Other adventurers are not excluded from participating due to
reservations made without full commitment
þ
WAHA
can continue to
keep adventure
costs low by scheduling adventure and facilities early
