The opening day dove hunt adventure is a tradition of several years. Everyone is welcome and shotguns will be available for those who don't have one. Responsible children can accompany you and shoot if familiar with firearms. Instruction is available for everyone, as needed. WAHA will provide water and sodas to help with the hot temperatures

As required by A.R.S. 17-333.03 and R12-4-203, dove hunters age 16 and older shall have in their possession an Arizona Migratory Bird Stamp which will validate their license for the federal Harvest Information Program. The Arizona Migratory Bird Stamp may be obtained, for a cost of $3.00 on or after July 1 of each year, from any Arizona Game and Fish Department office, online at http://www.azgfd.com or wherever hunting licenses are sold.

Shotgun hunters need a shotgun with a modified or full choke barrel and shotgun shells. For those without equipment, shotguns may be shared with other hunters, just let WAHA know in advance of the need. Other equipment you should consider includes a hat, sunglasses, camera and a cooler for your birds.

Half day. We meet early morning (5 AM) September 1 and drive a short distance north or Phoenix to our hunting spot. Hunting continues through noon, typically the end of the hunting day in the early season dove hunt.

Adventurers carpool from a north Phoenix location, with travel time of only 20-25 minutes.

No lodging is required for this adventure, but if you fall asleep during the dove hunting action (never happened yet), you are free to snooze in one of the trucks--no pillows provided.

Many adventurers can enjoy this great hunt, since the capacity limit is 50 hunters.

There are two dove hunting seasons in Arizona. The first typically begins September 1 and ends mid-month, with the second beginning in November and ending late December.
