Fishing Adventures Calendar
| WAHA reserved a private lake situated 9,000’ high in the cool pines of the White Mountains just for you. The WAHA Family White Mountain Fishing/Camping Adventure is a great opportunity to escape the summer heat to camp and fish at a small, secluded lake with access limited to only WAHA adventurers. The lake is specially managed as a trophy Apache Trout fishery, so fishing is limited to artificial flies and lures with a single prong hook, making this a great fishing opportunity. And if you tire of fishing at this lake or prefer to “dunk worms,” you can fish at any of the other excellent fishing lakes nearby at no additional cost. Fishing rod, flies, lures and accessories are needed, with some gear available for use for those without, so don't stay away just because you don't have fishing gear. Optional equipment includes waders, float tubes, etc. Bring your favorite lures or flies, or stop at a local fly shop and purchase "what's hot." Note: Fishing is limited to artificial flies and lures with a single prong hook. However, you may fish any of the other nearby lakes at no additional cost, most of which do not have any such restrictions. This is a camping adventure, so bring whatever you need for camping: tent, RV, tent trailer, or sleep under the stars. No camping equipment is provided by WAHA, so make whatever arrangements are needed for your optimal camping adventure. Bring an ice chest for fish if you plan to bring fish home. The private lake allows unlimited catch-and-release fishing, but you may only keep one fish per day (minimum of 16”), with a limit of two in possession. The other nearby lakes allow five fish per day, ten in possession. Appropriate clothing. Averages temperatures range from highs in the upper 70s to lows in the upper 40s or lower 50s. Rain is also possible.
Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and full payment is required to make a reservation due to the limited space. Each adventurer must provide their own transportation to/from the lake. Transportation is not included in the adventure. Travel time from Phoenix is approximately five (5) hours. Meals are back! WAHA will provide great dinners Thursday through Saturday nights, plus breakfast Friday - Sunday morning. Planned menu below (subject to change). Thursday Dinner: Hot dogs, baked beans, chips, water Friday Breakfast: Pancakes, sausage, OJ, and coffee Dinner: Pork chops and fixin's, dessert, water Saturday Breakfast: French toast, scrambled eggs, OJ, and coffee Dinner: Steak and sides, dessert and water Sunday Breakfast: Continental breakfast
Important Notes
There is a maximum of 25 participants for this adventure.
Fishing is available all year long in northern Arizona, but access can be limited during the coldest months depending on snowfall, temperatures, etc. Stream fishing is usually possible if the lakes are frozen.
